About our school:
Green Mountain Elementary School (Kindergarten – 5th grade blended classrooms, including a Tier 3 SSN Center program) is a diverse neighborhood school serving 209 students with 11 spoken languages in addition to English. Our mission: 'Serve. SOAR. Shine.' We are committed to creating an environment where all children are provided opportunities to engage in their learning and experience success through content mastery, civic and global engagement, self-direction and personal responsibility, communication, critical and creative thinking, collaboration and leading by influence, and agility and adaptability. Our core values of exemplary performance, teamwork, integrity, valuing people, and entrepreneurial spirit promote a culture of collaboration and an environment of trust and respect. We are committed to providing a balance of grade level expectations and authentic learning opportunities for students as aligned to the four Green Mountain Area Academies (Business and Global Studies/ Health and Human Services/ Arts, Humanities and Performing Arts/ STEM). As a restorative school, we value and utilize the elements of restorative practices to support students’ ability to understand others’ perspectives and repair harm. We are a Professional Learning Community resulting in increased teacher effectiveness and improved student achievement and growth. Through intervention and enrichment, we work collaboratively to address individual student needs, integrate technology, promote safety throughout the school, and encourage parent-community participation.
